At The Gathering Place at NSBC we believe what water baptism (immersion) is a celebration of a person's decision to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We believe that only those who have intelligently received the plan of salvation are to be baptized. Baptism does not save a person but it bears witness to the person's salvation (Acts 18:8), it bears witness to their oneness in Christ (Romans 6:3-6) and their desire to obey Jesus Christ (Matthew 28:20). If you are interested in being baptized during one of our baptism services please contact the church office. Each person is requested to attend a one hour session with one of the pastors to study what the Bible teaches about baptism.
The Lord's Universal Church began on the Day of Pentecost with those who became Christians. The Universal Church consists of all who have put their trust and faith in Jesus Christ for the salvation of their souls. The overwhelming majority of references to the church in the New Testament are to the local church of living and loving people who are committed to Christ and to one another. Joining a church has nothing to do with salvation or eternal life but the local church represents the place of spiritual growth for each believer. If you have consciously made a decision to receive Christ as your Savior, have been baptized by immersion since your salvation or will be at a future baptismal service, and God is leading you to join The Gathering Place at NSBC you are encouraged to inform the church office and attend a membership class. The membership class will inform you of our history, beliefs, people, programs and vision for the future. It is a great class to just learn about the church even if you are not interested in membership at this point in time. The membership class will connect you with the core issues of the church. After attending the membership class and making a commitment to membership you will be formally presented and welcomed as a member of the Gathering Place at NSBC's family.
